IRCC has issued 3200 invitations today under Express Entry for Canadian Experience Class candidates who had a CRS score of 509 or above.
So far in July 2024 only, IRCC has invited 14500 candidates in CEC specific draws. The recent draws align with the comments made by Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Marc Miller during a recent interview suggesting that measures are forthcoming to limit the proportion of non permanent residents in Canadian population to 5% in the next three years.
Minister has previously suggested his intention to transition more in-Canada applicants to permanent residents, in order to reduce the number of permanent residents coming from abroad to not worsen the ongoing housing and affordability crisis. This means there may be more CEC draws in future, and focus on inviting in-Canada applicants in both federal and provincial programs.
At the same time, category-specific draws continue to be an attractive option for outside Canada applicants as the CRS cut-off for these draws is usually significantly lower than the general draws under Express Entry.
